- August 27
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Until Jesus came, sin separated people from God and produced spiritual death. His coming wasn’t an afterthought, but part of God's redemptive plan for humanity from the beginning.
- August 25
“O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved! How long shall your iniquitous and grossly offensive thoughts lodge within you?” (Jeremiah 4:14, AMPC). God’s appeal begins with the heart; before our outward conduct can truly change, our hearts must first be cleansed. He calls His people to deal with the source of their actions—their inner thoughts, desires, and motives.

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:1, 2). The scope of Christ’s provision is universal. His saving work is sufficient for everyone, regardless of who they are or what they’ve done.

“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]” (Romans 12:2, AMPC). The phrase “external, superficial customs” emphasizes that many cultural influences focus on outward appearances rather than godly character. As Christians, we’re called to live by God's standards rather than by society's changing opinions.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). The “spirit of fear” refers to being controlled by timidity or shrinking back from doing what we know is right. Instead, God provides us with strength, love, and sound judgment.
- August 21
“Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:5-7). Wisdom is one of life’s greatest treasures and should be pursued with determination. Biblical wisdom involves more than knowledge; it’s the ability to apply God's principles in everyday decisions.

“And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:24, 25). Jesus instituted this observance to help us remember the significance of His sacrificial death and the love it demonstrated. We practically apply this by taking time to reflect on His sacrifice with gratitude, allowing that appreciation to strengthen our faith and motivate us to live in harmony with his teachings.

“For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love” (Galatians 5:6). Outward religious rituals or status don’t determine a person’s standing before God. What truly matters is faith that is demonstrated through love.
- August 18
“We love him, because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Our love for God is a response to His love for us. He took the initiative by showing His love before we ever sought Him.
- August 17
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17). This is a powerful reminder that God is the ultimate protector of those who serve Him. The reference to “every tongue” highlights that harmful accusations, criticism, or false judgments can be overcome through God's justice and truth.

“Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice. He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm achieved salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him” (Isaiah 59:15, 16, NIV).
God is merciful, but He’s also just. He loves us with an infinite, unending love, and makes those who believe in Him His children, but He will also deal with evil and injustice. His Word is truth, and it will prevail.

“For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6).
Recompense and justice, as well as mercy and kindness, come from God. The world doesn’t understand God’s true nature, but as Christians, we know that He does everything out of love for us.
May 16
“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
The world sizes us up according to external appearances, but God sees into our hearts and analyzes what He finds there. We may be able to put on an act for others, but we can never fool God.

“Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit’” (Acts 2:38, NKJV).
It’s no coincidence that the Bible uses the word “remission” when discussing forgiveness of sin. Not only is sin contrary to God’s Word, it’s a spiritual sickness that is as deadly to our souls as cancer is to the human body. Jesus, the Great Physician, heals the body, soul, and spirit.

“In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise” (Proverbs 10:19, NKJV).
Many of us may remember our mothers saying “If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all,” but the origins of this phrase are biblical. Words are powerful; having the wisdom to know when to keep silent is pleasing to God.
May 13
“Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord” (Jeremiah 23:24).
When God calls us and gives us a set of instructions for our lives, it’s best for us to obey. We can learn a lesson from Jonah, who tried unsuccessfully to run from God. God’s presence is everywhere, and there’s nowhere to go to escape His love.
May 12
“The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who begets a wise child will delight in him” (Proverbs 23:24, NKJV).
Godly parents raise their children according to God’s Word. When they succeed, their sons and daughters grow up to be righteous men and women who bring great joy to their parents. This is a blessing from God.
May 11
“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it” (Matthew 16:25).
Jesus lost His life for our sake when He was crucified, so that our sins could be washed away and we could inherit the promise of eternal life. Considering the example we have in this, when we put Jesus first before everything else—even our own life—we receive that promise.

“As for God, his way is perfect: The word of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in him” (Psalm 18:30).
The Word of God has been tested and found to be true. When we need something trustworthy to rely on in our daily lives, we can trust Jesus, who is the Word in human form.
