“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2). The first step to standing out from the world as Christians, and God’s beloved, is to change our way of thinking. We break out of that worldly, tired mindset by studying His Word, which refreshes and renews our minds over time.

“Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus” (Colossians 1:28). Apart from Christ, we’re flawed and incomplete. Only when Jesus is living in us can we truly say we’re perfect, because He makes us that way.

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10). There are plenty of situations in life we can’t handle on our own, and contemplating everything that can go wrong can be frightening. God reassures us that when we depend on Him, there’s no need to fear. He’s always with us, and He’ll never leave us.

“Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; and be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], and put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22-24, AMPC). When we are born again, our old, sinful nature ceases to exist, and the new identity we receive makes us righteous in God’s eyes. Although this change takes place immediately, we need to constantly renew our minds by studying the Word of God. He reveals fresh insights into the proper mental and spiritual attitudes.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:9, 10, NIV). No one is strong enough to go through life without any help or support in tough times. When we’re at our weakest, God’s unmerited favor strengthens us and gives us hope.

“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me” (Acts 26:18). The Gospel of Grace has transformative power to bring spiritual sight, freedom, and belonging. Turning to God not only breaks the grip of darkness but also secures forgiveness and makes us heaven-ready.

“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ” (Romans 10:17, NLT). Faith is nurtured through continual exposure to God’s Word.

  • February 26

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” (Psalm 119:130). God’s Word brings clarity and illumination, making His truth accessible to all. Scripture isn’t reserved for the wise alone—it offers understanding to anyone who seeks it with an open heart.

  • February 25

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7). The wisdom we get from the world isn’t enough to sustain us on our Christian journey. True insight comes from the understanding that God gives us. He urges us to seek depth and clarity in all we pursue, so that our choices are guided by discernment rather than mere knowledge.

  • February 24

“If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed” (Proverbs 29:18, MSG). Clarity of God’s vision brings stability and purpose to life. When we focus on His guidance rather than our own plans, we experience true blessing and direction.

“For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28).

Genuine belief in Jesus’ death and resurrection, which He did specifically for us, gives us the ability to break free from struggling unsuccessfully through life like so many others do. Faith in this shifts our focus from our sins to our righteousness in Him.

“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!” (Psalm 139:17).

Often, the way we see ourselves is shaped by the warped way the world views us—negatively. Thankfully, God loves us so much that He wants us as His children; this changes our self-image.

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1, NLT).

We live surrounded by guilt-ridden people ready to condemn others. The world has plenty of self-help “solutions” for the negative emotions associated with condemnation, but trusting in and relying on Jesus is the only permanent one.

“Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread” (Proverbs 20:13).

What we see in our lives is often the result of what we do or don’t do. Honest work leads to abundant blessings, but laziness brings its own punishment. We’re responsible for much of what we have or don’t have; “there are no free lunches.”

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass” (Psalm 37:7).

The world is full of fretful, anxious people caught up in restless, ceaseless striving. Resting in God involves faith and trust in Him, and is the only way to find peace in a turbulent environment.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Romans 12:12, NIV).

The hope we receive from God is a gift from Him; it empowers us to be joyful even in tough times. Patience is also necessary to keep us moving forward in the face of adversity. Being faithful in our prayers when things look bleak ties it all together and keeps us connected to God.

“But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it” (Romans 8:25).

God’s promises operate in the spiritual realm and are just as real as physical objects we can see and touch. The hope God gives us is filled with a confident expectation of good things; patience is a facet of endurance, a godly trait we all need on our Christian walk.

“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee” (Psalm 91:5-7).

The world may have good reason to fear, but God’s children have His promise of protection. Regardless of when, where, or how evil presents itself, no harm will come to us when we trust in His Word.

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17).

Life is risky and dangerous without divine protection. Trusting in God’s promises to keep us safe shields us from harm.
